Setting your mind on a particular goal is significantly different from your mindset.
We all focus on achieving something positive: going on vacation more often, starting a new exercise routine, spending more quality time with family, or returning to college. As a child, many of us are told that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. While this may be true in our youth, we may eventually lose confidence in ourselves and our abilities.
Our mindset is our mental inclination, a fixed state of mind that dictates how we interpret and respond to situations. If our past experiences have led to preconceived notions that hold us back, our mindset can often stand in the way of achieving our goals. It's essential to recognize that stigma can stem from our thoughts and beliefs, and we must work to overcome them to succeed in life.
Stigma = Disapproval
Those who bear the stigma of being disapproved of are in for a much different life experience than those who do not. Whether it’s mental illness, skin color, gender, weight, or any situation where you are judged, bullied, and disapproved of, that stigma you experience can create mental health issues. For some, it can be a matter of life or death.
At Freeman Sound, we understand this harsh reality and are dedicated to creating a supportive environment that empowers individuals to break free from societal disapproval.
With our MINDSET Series, we walk the intersection of the healing power of music and compassionate understanding. Music has been shown to reduce anxiety and pain, enhance mood, lower blood pressure, and increase mental alertness. We believe that within the melodies, rhythms, and lyrics of music lies an opportunity for hope, particularly for those grappling with the weight of mental illness and thoughts of suicide.
Stigma is trauma; through our initiatives, we can come together as a community to challenge our mindset and overcome the stigma. It's time to change how we perceive and treat mental health, allowing individuals to thrive and reach their fullest potential.
Our MINDSET Series aims to raise funds to support local organizations that promote an inclusive message of acceptance for people experiencing stigma related to mental health issues. These community organizations provide services to help individuals navigate the effects of mental illness and its associated stigmas.
When you attend one of our MINDSET Events, you join the Freeman Sound family, a community committed to promoting mental wellness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
